Navigating the VA is confusing for some
January 5, 2019
Many veterans do not know that there are three sides to the VA. This causes many of us frustration and confusion when we start our medical care and claims. The Veterans Health Administration (VHA), the Veteran Benefits Administration (VBA), and the National Cemetary Administration (NCA). These organizations do not necessarily communicate with one another either. So when you ask your primary physician about a claim for a knee injury they may not have the slightest idea what you are talking about. They only treat the condition and any secondary condition. They do not understand the claims process. Vice Versa, your Veteran Service Officer may only know about your claim information and not about how your condition has progressed or regressed in the last year. Be aware that you as the Veteran must educate yourself in how these branches of the VA work and how they may work FOR you. Click this link to learn the basics for each branch of the VA.
